The Teatro alla Scala in Milan is one of the most famous theaters in the world for over two hundred years has hosted internationally recognized artists, and was commissioner of works still present in the posters of opera houses around the world. It is located in the square, flanked by the Casino Remember, now home to the La Scala Theatre Museum.The theater takes its name from the Church of Santa Maria alla Scala, in turn, so named in honor of the Queen commissioned the Scala.La church was demolished in the late eighteenth century to make way for the theater, which opened August 3, 1778 with Europe recognized , musical drama composed for the occasion by Antonio Salieri.
